How I saved my marriage by changing ME♥

How I saved my marriage by changing ME♥

Grant me the serenity to accept the people I cannot change,

the courage to change the ONE I can,

and the wisdom to know it's ME ♥

I am so appreciative for all the awesome Facebook groups there are today. I absolutely love my Radical Unschooling (RU) and Law of Attraction (LoA)groups that keep my on track with were I want to be. Recently the topics of husbands has came up in more than one of these groups. Some on how to get husbands to agree to RU and a few on addictions. I actually was asked directly by a few. I think that maybe I was a little misleading in my nonchalant responses so I wanted to do a quick post.

I apply LoA to all aspects of my life my work, my kids, and my husband. LoA is working in all areas of life all the time. This law never takes a break. The principle of LoA is no different than the law of gravity. We don”t see pigs flying one day because gravity took a day off or some how gravity didn't apply to pigs. All the time LoA is in constant vibration to everything because everything is energy...including our husbands ♥

So lets apply this to our husbands. Let's apply this to addiction right now. What is addiction? The dictionary definition is “the state of being enslaved to a habit or practice or to something that is psychologically or physically habit-forming, as narcotics, to such an extent that its cessation causes severe trauma.” Well according to this definition ANYTHING can be an addiction. It is all about perspective and if we are willing to let go of our control. We must remember we are all spirits here to have human experiences. Each one of us is here to have our own experiences including our children and our husbands. We have no right to force our beliefs or experiences onto anyone else including members of our family. Our mind and body are one. If we do not have balance in our minds we cannot have balance in our bodies, this is true with addictions. Once upon a time I smoked and quite but my husband choose to keep on smoking for awhile. He also choose to drink among other things. It drove me crazy. I wanted to control him into quitting; I felt these habits made him a monster in ways but in actuality it was my bitching that made him the monster. I did not see it this way I only saw his habits as wrong and I was going to change him into who I thought he should be. Well the bitching and forcing made him a drunk, smoking addict. This is all I CHOSE to see. So I started calling divorce lawyers. About a week later I met a new friend that introduced me to LoA and RU. She was my seed♥ I started changing the way I saw the world, my experiences, my children, and my husband. I started reading all the LoA books I could. About a month later I read a Hicks book “Ask and it is Given,”which had tips and games at the end. I started using them on a daily bases and still do today...five years later. I also found that same week this YouTube video by Lilou Mace on “100 day challenge.” vlogs. Her and two of her friends had started a website where you applied LoA philosophy to an area of your life for 100 days and did weekly vlogs on how you were doing and so on. I loved this idea but did not do the vlogs. I don't even think I did it for the 100 days. I think It was a matter of maybe 6 wks that my life had dramatically changed. I had even choose to do my research projects in my psychology classes on LoA and RU. I read another book called the Five Love Languages. I did a paper on it for a psych class. I had an understanding of my relationships that change the whole vibration of our family. I discovered that one of my husband's “love languages” was touch...well sex. We had a lot of sex. Just not sex but my language towards him was sexual as well. It was crazy. I could change his bad mood just with some perverted words...it was awesome. With in the year he had quite most everything I had hated before with out me bitching. I started to CHOSE to see all his awesomeness. I had saved our marriage by changing ME♥
I was asked in a RU group how could I LET my husband parent differently than me. So I posted this...

“So my husband is not on the same page when it comes to somethings. I have had people ask me why I “allow” my husband to parent differently than I do. I want to clear this up. Unschooling is a FAMILY thing. When my husband and I got married we had most of the same beliefs. However, I changed through yrs and yrs of schooling in psychology and my own research while being able to apply them and adjust. My husband is not on the same path. He does not have hrs to research or apply things the way I do cause he works outside the home right now. I can no more force him to parent my way anymore than I can force my children in their path. This does not mean I just let him beat at the kids or anything ;) We have agreed not to punish although we have slipped out of anger sometimes and have sent kiddos to their rooms (with tvs and games ;) instead of taking a time out ourselves. But he is getting better everyday. We now have locks on our room and closet filled with affirmations for parent time outs lol. I choose to look at how far he has come instead of how far he has to go. He went from a strict asshole that “I” didn't even want to be with to an amazing man who has grown so very much in the past 4 yrs. Not because HE changed but because I did. We are told to model how we want our children to act. So if we want them to clean joyfully we must, If we want them to be respectful we must show them respect, this is no different for our partners. Instead of constant bitching at my husband that he shouldn't yell, he shouldn't force chores, etc. I must walk the talk.

Humor is huge when it comes to parenting and marriage. I leave little articles in the bathroom for my husband knowing he takes a lot of his time outs on the pot lol. My husband is um well a very sexual man hahaha. So we use a lot of sexual humor to lighten stressful experiences (lol yes I know my poor children hahaha). This is a language my husband relates to the best. So when I see him getting on the kids or stressed out I use this humor with him and it always seems to lighten his mood. I know I am going to get a lot of crap for this but I bribe my husband too. Well I don't know if it is actually bribing then a creative persuasion game; but anyways for every “mamma book” he reads he gets um treats ;).

I guess my point of this ramble is that unschooling is not an all or nothing thing. I make it my goal everyday to be as close to as respectful and loving as possible for TODAY. Keep humor in it and think outside the box. How we unschool our children applies to our partners too. Unschooling is not an overnight thing. It is an ongoing process of daily love and respect. I honestly do not believe in a “deschooling” period. Our families are in constant change as our children and ourselves are always changing and growing. We must be willing to adjust and bend with each experience of change. Unschooling is just another label. A respectful connecting partnership is my goal that I take day by day. I do not worry about making mistakes because they are proof I am learning too. I take “mistakes” as an opportunity to reconnect with my husband or children. I remember it only takes a change of though to realign with love♥”

Realigning with Divine Source...there are no coincidences.

Divine Source never ceases to amaze me. How there is no coincidences when it comes to our journey. I believe in many laws of the Universe and that I lead my path of experiences. So as I grieve my loss it was chased by guilt in attracting such an experience. This pregnancy was very different from my others. Never had I feared so much of loosing a baby. This year I watched as many friends grieve over their pregnancy losses. Then during my own pregnancy I had the flu and during this time I watch a movie with Helen hunt. In the movie she goes in for an ultrasound at 10 wks to find out the baby has no heartbeat. This scene in the movie was etched into my subconscious. So as I sat during my own ultrasound at 10.5 wks listening to the doctor tell me there was no heartbeat it was like an out of body experience...as if my own movie. The guilt was too much for me to bear. But as the Universe puts daily chances for healing experience into our path it is our responsibility to be aligned to see them or attract them. So today I had another doctor's appointment. It also so happens I am reading "The Spontaneous Fulfillment of Desire" by Deepak Chopra to guide me during my healing process. As I waited for my appointment I was reading a passage about people and experience are never coincidence. As I listen to the doctor tell how it wasn't my fault and things like this happen when there is a genetic defect and so on. I just sat there in tears playing the movie scene with Helen Hunt. Then she said something that just struck me and change my whole perspective of the experience. I had told her about the movie and my overwhelming fear my whole pregnancy. She told me that it may of not been fear but my own intuition telling something wasn't right. She said that most woman are not that in tuned with their bodies. She asked me if I remember the scene in the movie Bruce Almighty when Bruce screams out "god give me a sign" and them there is a truck full of signs he doesn't see lol. She told me it may of just been me attracting the signs that something wasn't right. I needed a new perspective so much. I needed to grieve with out the guilt. I needed to grieve without the fear. I am so very appreciative of the many opportunities the Universe gives us to realign.

2/5/2013

We have named our baby. Frank and I chose the name Jayden meaning ~thankful~ The children chose Angel because Jayden is our angel baby. We have decided to plant a memorial tree when weather allows. The loss has been harder than I could of imagined. All the doctor appts seem to make it harder reminding me I am no longer pregnant with our baby. We thankful for all our family and friends that have been so loving and patience as we greive our loss.

My Amazing Morning

I am having just an amazing morning! The Universe watered for me this morning ♥ I threw Alex in a sling and we fed the chickens and dogs then checked on Brianna’s hamster. Got the house opened up and there is this wonderful cool breeze running through the house; I love the smell of a breeze right after it has been raining. I even have a load of laundry in and the kitchen done with dinner thawing…just not the dishwasher unloaded and reloaded with hand dishes still in the sink. But the entire kitchen done with hand dishes drying, counters wiped down and the floor swept…whoo hoo. I had a vibrational enema last night LMAO.

I went to bed just in a horrible place. I was in a panic to get all the chores done before bed...the big kids’ and mine. So I was rushing around trying to get everything done yelling at the little kids for not helping getting toys put away. So as Karma would have it I woke up just in a panic attack. I HATE going to bed in a vibration like that. So about midnight I woke up just teary eyed. So I sat in meditation until I got my mojo back haha. It took a half an hour of meditation and then maybe another 20 minutes of journal writing before I could go back to bed. I love the tools the Universe gives us to get back in that vibrational alignment of love. You know you’ve had a good meditation when you have ah ha moment. Our lives are like roller coasters. We have moments of alignment and moments we are not. I have been in an off alignment track for sometime and am finding that I have been attracting so many opportunities to find my vibe and get back on that path that makes me…me.

Having the big kids gone has practically forced me to use the tools that I allowed to slip away as I became overwhelmed with the many projects are family and myself personally have been working on. I have found excuses for not having time for meditation, yoga, or my journal, the tools or practices I so desperately need to stay in that vibration of love and compassion.

I think what attracted this amazing morning was my ah ha moment in meditation. Meditation is where I always get my amazing ideas or I recall tools that had gotten lost in my subconscious somewhere. I remembered something Jack Canfield had taught about planning your day before you go to bed. I use to do this as part of my journal writing until I excused it away with not having time. I find this so important but I also think it should come with a caution label. Planning the night before gives your subconscious the whole night to envision this amazing day. It is amazingly close your day will mirror your “dreams.” Remembering not to sweat the small stuff…and everything is small stuff. I went to bed with the affirmation “I am wonder woman and I never sweat the small stuff” and “everything is small stuff” ♥

Something else comes to mind that I learned from Abraham Hicks. To affirm your life in segments. Moment by moment affirm that that next moment will be in vibration with pure happiness. I got up this morning KNOWING that it was going to be easy. As I walked into the bathroom I told myself that Alex would happily sit on my lap as I peed instead of screaming on the floor as I did my business…yes you must think outside the box sometimes to stay in alignment with your happy moment LOL.

IT TAKES A VILLAGE…to do chores :)

♥ Marcus loves cleaning out the fridge lol ♥

IT TAKES A VILLAGE…to do chores :)

Have you ever had one of those ah ha days? You know the ones were you have attracted that magical person that made your world make sense? I had that day today and it brought tears to my eyes as I acknowledged that I am a good mom…and my kids do chores ♥ I have always felt I didn’t quite measure up when it came to the Radical Unschooling (RU) communities or groups. Many unschooling families do not believe in “forcing” their children to do chores, because, yes, unschooling is about freedom in learning. So we have been kind of closet chore doers haha.

I have a habit of comparing myself to other unschoolers, I guess to see if I am “doing it right.” I often forget that the journey is very different for every family on the path of unschooling. I tend to pick my favorite gurus on the subject and try to do it their way; even if that means they have less kids and a WAHDaddy.

Today I heard from a RU mom of 5 with a dad that works outside the home. She wrote me and just made my day by giving me little tid bits on how her kiddos do chores. It is funny to me how many families on this path feel it must be an all or nothing journey to Radical Unschooling. Yes there is the whole philosophy behind the right or wrong way to RU but seriously isn’t putting *rules* on RU a little hypocritical?

Yes, we do chores. I like the way my friend described her perspective, “I feel that we are a village and in a village we all have our rolls to make our lives be in a comfortable happy spot for everyone involved.” I think it takes a lot of communication and trying to meet everyone’s needs. Some are better or enjoy some chores better than others. Brian (14) does really well with the baby and Brianna does well with laundry. There are days I pray no one shows up and other days I wish someone would stop by and see my house can be clean ;) It is a total roller coaster we have our good weeks and weeks…well...you know. We continue to adjust how we keep up on the house while still meeting everyone's needs and keeping clear of forcing and coercion.

I would love to hear your input…not that I would agree ;) but it is nice to hear where other families are on the unschooling paths…especially ones with larger families that daddies that are working outside of the home…I am always looking for more gentle ways to deal with the everyday stuff.

Much Peace & Love,
            Jen ♥

Respectful Parenting Books You Might Like:

♥ The Universe Works in Mysterious Ways ♥

♥ The Universe Works in Mysterious Ways ♥

The Petersons have been struck with the stomach flu :(. It seems about every other year the flu works its way through the family. Tonight as I was holding Austin (5) while he threw up I was remembering a conversation I had with a friend. We talked about how we have true empathy for our children when they are sick but sometimes loose this when the child is well. I remember wanting to have the same empathy and love for my children when they are well as when they are sick. When ever I seem to loose focus of my goal of having a loving connection with my children the Universe seems to step in and remind me ♥ I think we all experience parenting roller coasters and need reminders of our parenting goals of having a respectful connection with our children. I have an affirmation that affirms : I speak to my children with love... I find that when I fall of the horse of respect the Universe gently guides me to a place of love through some kind of learning experience...perhaps this is that experience. I am grateful for this time to reconnect with my children and get back on that horse ♥

♥ Finding Treasures ♥

I found this little treasure that Brianna and I did a while back. I love doing these kind of projects with my kids. These kind of opportunities always end in remarkable conversations that we are able to build on. I remember while doing this we had a very serious conversation about the law of attraction and Christianity. The conversation honestly changed my life and I found myself on a spiritual path with my daughter in search of answers. Brianna's childlike perspective on God reconnected me with my faith something I always think I knew...God IS love - period . I think in my upbringing I learned to fear God and that is not something I wanted for my children. Brianna shed light on a concept of truth. The things I have learned from the innocents of my children have been priceless.

Respectful/Attraction Parenting ~ Still Growing

As I apply more and more principles or tools of LoA to my life I have attracted some of the most affective tools for my relationships…especially with my children and husband. I have found that most tools I have discovered to help me be a better mamma have served me in being a better wife as well. Some awesome LoA or Attraction Parenting sites I have found that have been awesome are Law of Attraction Parenting (http://www.law-of-attraction-parenting.com/ ) Kids Awakening(http://www.kidsawakening.com/blog/)                                                                                            Attraction for Kids (http://www.squidoo.com/lawofattractionforkids ). But I have to say my favorite is my latest one introduced to me by my friend called Enjoyparenting.com (http://www.enjoyparenting.com/attraction-parenting ) this is attraction parenting with Scott Noelle. Scott Noelle’s articles and daily expressions have been the most helpful and inspiring and I encourage anyone wanting a better relationship with their kiddos to check him out. He is actually an Attraction Parenting Coach and I think he is awesome.

I am also reading a book right now called Respectful Parents, Respectful Kids that is based on the teaching of Nonviolent Communication and has been awesome thus far with exercises, games, and feeling charts… the works.

Parenting is a forever Journey...I love every step of it.
